The coil is a widely used product in the steel industry and it describes a roll of steel which is somewhat ambiguous. The ASTM A240 SS Coil was traditionally produced by putting the slabs through a conversion process with the help of a Z mill. These are the wide coils which are made at around 1250mm, and they are known as the mill edge coil. What is Stainless Steel Plate?
Stainless steel is an alloy of Iron with a minimum of 10.5% Chromium. Chromium produces a thin layer of oxide on the surface of the steel known as the'passive layer'. This prevents any further corrosion of the surface. Increasing the amount of Chromium gives an increased resistance to corrosion.Stainless steel also contains.
Varying amounts of Carbon, Silicon and Manganese. Other elements such as Nickel and Molybdenum may be added to impart other useful properties such as enhanced formability and increased corrosion resistance.

Type 321 ss plates are a good choice for applications where heat is an issue. 321 can be used in applications up to 900 degrees Celsius where 304L is normally used up to 500 degrees Celsius.
