Traditionally, ASTM A240 stainless steel coils were created by processing slabs through a conversion method using a Z mill. These wide coils, typically measuring around 1250mm, are referred to as mill edge coils. They can undergo further processing through various manufacturing techniques, such as slitting. During this process, the coil is cut into several strips, resulting in a batch of coils.

What is Stainless Steel Plate?

Stainless steel is an alloy composed primarily of iron, with at least 10.5% chromium. The chromium in the alloy forms a thin, protective oxide layer on the steel's surface, known as the 'passive layer,' which shields it from further corrosion. Enhancing the chromium content improves the steel's corrosion resistance. Additionally, stainless steel contains other elements that contribute to its durability and performance.

Different quantities of carbon, silicon, and manganese are present in stainless steel. Additional elements like nickel and molybdenum are often included to provide additional benefits, such as improved formability and enhanced resistance to corrosion.
