The 347 stainless steel grade is a stabilized alloy featuring columbium and tantalum, making it well-suited for long-term applications at high temperatures (800-1500ºF) and providing excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion within the chromium carbide precipitation range. Notably, SS 347 Round Bars exhibit superior creep and stress rupture properties, enhancing their mechanical performance.
Alloy 347 is distinguished by its stabilization through the addition of columbium, offering exceptional corrosion resistance, often surpassing that of alloy 321. The higher carbon composition of 347H further improves high-temperature and creep performance.
Like grades 304 and 321, Stainless Steel 347 Round Bars share a similar chemical composition, containing 18% chromium and 8% nickel. However, the addition of niobium in the SS 347 Rods stabilizes carbon and enhances performance under elevated temperatures. Similar to how titanium enhances grade 321's thermal resilience, niobium strengthens the ASTM A276 Type 347 Flat Bar, ensuring it delivers excellent performance in challenging conditions.
The welding and forming characteristics of our JIS SUS 347 Black Bar are classified as good to excellent, making them suitable for diverse applications. The AISI 347 Threaded Bar is also known for its impact resistance, making it a reliable choice for cryogenic settings, unlike conventional carbon or alloy steels, which may fail under similar conditions.
