The J-bend, generally mentioned as a P-bend, is known as a trap and is there to prevent unhealthy smells from drains returning up the pipe and making unpleasant odors in your home. The common P trap has each removable cracked. an alternate less common J trap contains a captive nut. There are many sorts of traps in plumbing however mostly just replace the space with 1-1/2″ and also the sink with 1-1/4″ (0.1 m) often found as a mixture sized trap with further insert adapter within the bag for the smaller sink size.
